Red velvet by the lazy chef and little excited chefs

Long CNY break without activities will drive mum crazy as bored kids will nag and nag. Since everybody is baking red velvet like the cake is so easy to make... I think I can try , even if it is a failure... at least we had some activities... yieyyy

bahan-bahannye ye puan-puan....
2 1/2 cups (250 grams) sifted cake flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2
tablespoons (15 grams) of cocoa powder
1/2 cup (113 grams) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups (300 grams) granulated white sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup (240 ml) buttermilk
2 tablespoons liquid red food coloring
1 teaspoon white distilled vinegar

1 teaspoon baking soda

Since I don't have the weight scale.... I know... I Know... waiting for a bonus to buy one .... hahaha... at least I have an excuse to cover my laziness... ngehngeh, all measurement therefore was done using the plastic cup as in the picture above.

Introducing the little chefs
Apart from the ingredients, the lazy chef also need helpers... to do this and that, take this and that from fridge, from the shelf etc-etc.

Buttermilk in the making... buttermilk mana ade kat econsave!!

First of all, we made buttermilk by adding one tablespoon of vinegar to one cup of full cream milk and leave it for 15 minutes.

If you are lazy, of course you do not sift the flour ... errr like me
Put the flour, cocoa powder and salt in a bowl

It will not lumpy if you have 2 helpers like this....
In the mixer bowl, put butter and sugar...

The lazy chef was so lazy... she used granulated sugar...
By this time the sound of mixer had attracted another little chef to the kitchen.....

Your smile had added sweetness to the cakelah darling
Just watch ok darling....

Do you think Daneen would just watch?

Add 2 eggs

Add red colouring...
Look!... the granulated sugar sudah hancur.... don't worrylah kak Kiah ye.....

Laju... laju....

Then, you add the mixed flour alternate with buttermilk... little by little....   add together the vinegar with baking powder and lastly add them to the mixture....

preheat the oven ye...
Finally bake the cake at 185 degree for 30 to 45 minutes...

let it cool before you put the cream

The cream cheese was so easy to make even Aiz can do it, just mix 250g whipping cream, 250g cream cheese and one cup of icing sugar

hok alohhh......

Cut the cake into half... please ignore the crack....

Put the filling in between...

The lazy design.... just sprinkle anything you have like chocolate chips.... the cake crumb also can....

Mane ade crack... tak de.. tak de.....
should put more filling.... tak nampak pun
Red Velvet cake  for  tea break anyone??
